Watch Keeper ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the Watch Keeper mobile application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address - used for authentication, account verification, and essential communications
- Display name (optional) - if you choose to provide one
- Password - stored securely via Firebase Authentication; we never have access to your plain-text password
Watch Collection Data
Information you enter about your watches, including:
- Brand, model, reference number, and description
- Purchase details (price, date, seller)
- Movement, dial, case, and strap/bracelet specifications
- Current value and sale details
- Watch photos you upload or capture
- Notes and custom descriptions
- Collection groupings and organization
App Activity Data
- Wrist time tracking - wear session logs you create to track when you wear your watches
- Collection organization - how you group and arrange your watches
Device Permissions
The App may request access to the following, only when needed:
- Camera - to take photos of your watches
- Photo Library - to select existing watch images
- Location (when in use) - solely to help you find nearby authorized service centres
You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings.
Subscription & Purchase Data
If you subscribe to a paid plan (Collector, Curator, or Horologist) or purchase add-ons (such as Reference Lookup), your transaction is processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details. We receive subscription status and entitlement information through RevenueCat, our subscription management provider.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information exclusively to provide and improve the App:
- App functionality - displaying your watch collection, tracking wrist time, generating PDF reports, and powering search and reference lookups
- Authentication & security - verifying your identity, email verification codes, and protecting your account
- Encryption - your watch data is encrypted using your personal encryption key before being stored; we cannot read your encrypted data
- AI-powered features - with your explicit consent, watch reference data may be processed to generate enriched descriptions and brand insights via AI services
- Service centre lookup - your location is used only in the moment to find nearby authorized service centres and is not stored
- Account communications - sending verification codes, password reset emails, and account closure confirmations
3. Data Encryption & Security
Watch Keeper uses end-to-end encryption for your watch collection data. When you create your account, a unique encryption key is generated. This key encrypts your data before it leaves your device. We store only the encrypted version of your data on our servers; we cannot access or read your collection details without your encryption key.
You are responsible for backing up your encryption key. If lost, your data cannot be recovered.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
5. Data Storage & Retention
- Your data is stored on Firebase (Google Cloud) servers
- Watch images are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage
- Your encryption key is stored locally on your device using secure storage (Keychain on iOS)
- We retain your data for as long as your account is active
- You may export your data at any time using the App's export functionality
6. Account Deletion
You can request account deletion directly within the App under Settings. When you request deletion:
- Your account is marked for deletion with a 30-day grace period
- You will receive a confirmation email with the scheduled deletion date
- During the grace period, you can cancel the deletion and reactivate your account
- After the grace period, your account and all associated data (including watch data, images, and personal information) will be permanently deleted
7. Tracking & Analytics
Watch Keeper does not use advertising trackers, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking tools. As declared in our Apple App Privacy manifest, NSPrivacyTracking is set to false and we collect no data types for tracking purposes.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data (available via the App's export feature)
- Correct inaccurate data (editable directly in the App)
- Delete your account and data (available in Settings)
- Withdraw consent for AI features at any time
- Data portability - export your collection data
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
